Women are an important asset to society where they show courage and strength in everything they do!
Women’s Equality Day is celebrated every year on August 26th in the United States. It is the day we commemorate the adoption of the 19th Amendment into the Constitution, which ensures the right to vote for everyone regardless of gender. Since 1920, this day has been one to celebrate because it is the day women were given a voice in this country. It is a chance for them to learn and honor the people who came before us, fighting for change, justice, and equality.
We know this could be a day that just comes and goes, but we want to do our part to help it matter more than National Guacamole Day. Here are some ways you and your friends can celebrate Women’s Equality Day.

Women’s sports are an integral part of supporting them and their passions. There’s no doubt that women can play sports just like men can, and it’s crucial to support your favorite athletes whether they are professional, local, or even a family member or friend. Women can participate in tons of sports, such as soccer, gymnastics, lacrosse, swimming, and even compete in the Olympics. Just Women’s Sports is also a great place to go to if you’re looking to specifically watch athletic women do their thing.

Supporting these artists and their message that women are strong and powerful is crucial, and there’s nothing wrong with breaking it down and having a jam session to playlists on Apple Music or Spotify.
Support Working Moms
While many mothers can afford to stay at home and take care of their children, there are other women who have to work and take care of their children to make ends meet. It’s important to support these women as they are dedicated to not only making their children’s lives better, but theirs as well. Whether they are working a full-time job, or even working and going to school to make more money, these women are strong and dedicated to making the most out of their situation to ensure their kids have everything they need.
Volunteer at Domestic Violence Shelters
There are many women who have been mistreated throughout their lives either by family, or being in abusive relationships. In order to escape and get the help they need, women oftentimes will stay at a domestic violence shelter to seek protection and security until they can get back on their feet. A way to support women is by volunteering at these shelters. Fill out an application and select how you would like to help women looking for a brighter future without abuse in it.
Speak Up For Women
There are many instances whether in public on the bus, or behind closed doors that women can be hurt or taken advantage of. It’s important that if you see something, say something. This act of kindness and sticking up for a woman who is being abused or mistreated can help to save a woman’s life. It’s important to speak up for women to ensure that they are getting the treatment that they deserve.
Celebrate Women’s Accomplishments
Women in the workforce should be proud of their many accomplishments that change the company they work for, their everyday lives, and even society. No matter if a woman gains a job promotion, takes care of her children, finishes a schooling course, writes a book, or anything else, it’s important to acknowledge their accomplishments and tell them how proud you are of what they have done.
Challenge Gender Stereotypes
There are many stereotypes when it comes to women and their traditional roles in society. Some people mistakenly believe that women should be the homemakers and take care of their children, and cook and clean the house. In 2024, it’s important to challenge these stereotypes and be reminded that women can do anything now. Women can work and have a career of their choosing, write books, make music, star in movies and TV shows, go to college, and they can even do all of this while taking care of their kids and their home.
